Emergency callouts

Bay-fronted terraces in Cathays and Roath that were cut into flats decades ago, a rental market that turns over every summer, and Welsh rules on rented homes that your English competitors' template copy has never heard of.

The awkward bits
Is it worth writing about the Welsh rental rules?
One page of it, yes. A landlord in Cardiff searching for what they have to have in place before a tenancy is looking for somebody who already knows. Answer it plainly and the enquiry that follows is from a landlord with houses, not from somebody comparing three prices.
The students all use whoever the agent uses
The agent picks whoever answers in the first week of September, and that decision gets made once a year. A page written at agents — turnaround, safety records, one contact, one invoice — is aimed at four decisions rather than four hundred.
Cardiff has eight postcodes, that is not much to work with
So work in district names instead. Canton, Roath, Llanishen, Whitchurch, Grangetown. That is how people here say where they live, and it is what they type. Penarth and Barry are separate pages and separate customers, and both are a short drive.
Should the site be in Welsh as well?
Only if you can answer the phone in Welsh. A bilingual site that leads to an English-only conversation reads worse than an honest English one. What does matter here is naming the district — Cathays, Roath, Llanishen, Whitchurch — because Cardiff addresses jump about and the district is how people describe where they live.
What you get
A page per job, never a page per suburb.
Tap to ring, top of the screen, nothing in front of it.
A form that asks size, access and timescale before it asks anything else.
Room for your Gas Safe number where a homeowner looks for it.
Written by symptom, because that is how it gets searched.
The small jobs that fill a quiet week and come back bigger.
A different buyer, a different page, and repeat money.
Is the water off right now?
One question, at the top, before anything else. It sorts an emergency from a quote in a second.
Checkable, like the rest of this page. Here is where we read it.
Cardiff has eight geographic postcode districts and they do not run in sequence: CF3, CF5, CF10, CF11, CF14, CF15, CF23 and CF24. Everything between them, CF31 to CF83, is Bridgend, the Rhondda, Merthyr Tydfil, the Vale of Glamorgan or Caerphilly.

Beeforge is a small studio working across the UK and Ireland. There is no office in Cardiff and we are not going to pretend otherwise — nothing here says we have worked in the city, only that we build for plumbers who do.
